Ouro-Agoro's goalscoring and other talking points
St George's Togolese Striker, Ismail Ouro-Agoro has been on a scoring spree to keep them top of the log, and Ethiopia Coffee hit some high notes in week 21 fixtures.
These and more talking points from an entertaining week of the BetKing Ethiopia Premier League
Ismail Ouro-Agoro targets Abubeker Nassir's record
Saint George beat  Arbaminch City 1 - 0 on their 21st week match and again as in the previous week, they have got the same name on the scoresheet,  the Togolese striker Ismail Ouro-Agoro.
Ouro-Agoro plays a vital role for "the horsemen's" season in a good way. He scores form any side at any time.
On this fixture, he scored his 21st goal of the season, an astonishing goal from outside of the box with his strong left foot.
Now he is not competing with other players, but he is now competing with records. He needs 10 goals in the next 9 fixtures to be Ethiopia premier League highest scorer.
The record is currently held by former Ethiopia Coffee Striker, Abubeker Nassir with 29 goals in the 2020/21 season( he registered this record with 24 matches).
Ouro Agoro scored 21 goals in 20 matches as compared to Abubeker scored 24 goals in 21 matches about this stage that season.
What this will mean is that he now challenges the 2 years old record of Abubeker Nassir who broke the previous record held by Getaneh Kebede. Can Ouro-Agoro do it ?
Getaneh Kebede's Comments
Getaneh Kebede is still involved in the goalscoring conversation with 14 goals this season and second behind Ouro-Agoro.
However, his team,  Wolkite City are not performing well despite his goals. They have only one win from last 7 matches.
Last week, they faced relegation threatened Ethio Electric and they were leading 2 - 0 in the first half with Abel Negash and Getaneh Kebede Goals, but they conceded 2 second haif goals to get only one point from the match.
After the match, the team's captain Getanhe Kebede gave a post-match interview when he spoke about delay of salaries and impact of his teammates qualities not helping him to compete on the highest goalscoring honours.
Getaneh Kebede expressed his concern is that the players are not motivated because there are players who have not been payed for the last eight months plus no one was visiting them if they won or lost games.
Wolkite City face a daunting game next when they face the league leader Saint George at Hawassa University Stadium.
Sidama Coffee for relegation?
Sidama Coffee is currently coached by former league champion Seyoum Kebede but, Sidama is struggling to escape from the relegation zone, and they have been unable to run out of it for weeks alongside Ethio Electric and Legetafo Legedadi.
The team hasn't registered a single win in the second round of the league. They have recorded 4 draws and 2 loses.
Their recent lose was 1-3 to Adama City in last week's fixture leaving them with   21 points from 21 league matches and they are placed 14th on the log.
Sidama has the second worst defensive record this season as they have conceded 39 goals.
They have a very tall order if they are to escape relegation but perhaps will make the most of home advantage with upcoming fixtures set to be played at Hawassa, Sidama Coffee's home city.
Last season,  Sidama Coffee didn't fare well at Hawassa city, leading to speculations that home fan pressure costs them valuable points.
This is what they hope to avoid this season.
Wollaita Dicha back to winning ways as Mekelakeya Struggles Continue
Both teams met on Thursday night at Adama Science and Yechnology University Stadium with the "Tona Bees" winning by 1 - 0.
Sintayehu Mengistu scored the only goal of the match after coming on the bench. This win is the first victory in 8 consecutive matches for Tsegaye Kidanemariam's team.
Sintayehu Mengistu was in good form last season as he scored most of the goals of the team. But this season he has been plagued by injuries.
What made it special was because Kalkidan Zelalem had missed a penalty before Sintayehu scored the goal.
Mekelakeya had another headache as 2 of their star players got seriously injured. Their midfielders Kenean Markneh and Girum Hagos colided with each other while going for the same headers.
This may be a bad moment for Mekelakeya and Coach Fasil Tekalegn as he has also lost Fitsum Alemu for the rest of the season.
The Four Stars Ethiopia Coffee
Ethiopia Coffee's recent run of matches are full of draws, 7 out of their last 8 fixtures.
The team has a good defensive structure, but this strength has not been harnessed by the attacking Players. The team has a lot of weakness on goalscoring front.
This team's performance has been a source of despair for their teeming fans. However, they did compensate them in their week 21 fixtures when they mauled Dire Dawa City 4-1.
There were 4 different goalscorers on the night,  Mesfin Taffese, Robel Tekelmichael, Anteneh Tefera and Amanuel Yohannis.
The special treat was the first goal of the match, scored by Mesfin Tafesse, a superb goal that will s be in the running for goal of the season.
